Hygiene Rating Scheme
The FSSAI Hygiene Rating Scheme is a transparent, web-based system that assesses and rates food establishments based on their compliance with food safety regulations. It aims to certify businesses while enabling consumers to make better decisions. The scheme’s goals are to:
- Encourage food businesses to enhance their hygiene and safety practices.
- Allow consumers with the necessary information to choose food outlets wisely.
Following food businesses can apply for Hygiene Rating Scheme:
- Food service establishments (such as hotels, restaurants, cafeteria, dhabhas, etc), sweet shops, bakeries and meat retail stores.
- Meat Retail Shop.
- Sweet Shops.
- Bakery shops.
The Food Business Operator applying for Hygiene Rating must comply with the following requirement:
- Have an active FSSAI License/ Registration, follow schedule 4 requirements and display FSDBs.
- Appoint FoSTaC trained Food Safety Supervisors.
- Get food and water samples tested periodically (applicable for licensed FBOs only)

Please Note: License/Certificate can be applied for a maximum period of 5 Years.

- Availability of Competent and Experienced Auditors
- Maintaining High Level of Integrity, Confidentiality and Impartiality in the services offered.
